The Read You Need.

Poetry. Magic. Other Possible Worlds.

Imani tattoos, and wearing black clothing with colorful dots, is sitting at a table and shuffling tarot cards.

Here, poetry becomes portal. Tarot becomes storytelling. Myth gets rewritten. Black futures become infinite. And impossible questions become places to wander.

I make work somewhere between the world as it is and the worlds we haven't imagined yet.

Come read. Come write. Come wander.

Speculative Alchemy

Somewhere between what is and what could be.

Alchemy is the practice of gathering our pieces. An act of remembering our individual magic—and imagining what else those pieces might become.

My practice moves between poetry, speculative literature, Afrofuturism, installation, tarot, and community ritual.

I'm interested in transformation. In Black women becoming gods, ghosts, monsters, galaxies, ancestors, and futures. In poems that behave like portals. Tarot cards that become stories. Stories that bend reality. Rooms that invite us to imagine ourselves differently.

Sometimes the work begins with a poem.

Sometimes a card.

Sometimes an impossible question:

What else could we become?

READ

A cartoon character with dark skin, blue curly hair, and a fur coat with pink, purple, and blue hues, wearing black shorts, fishnet stockings, and roller skates. They are holding a crystal ball in one hand, which has stars and sparkles around it, and a potted plant with yellow flowers in the other. The character is smiling and has large, expressive eyes.

Tiny Intuitive Alchemy is Imani’s Speculative Rabbit Hole.

Poems, books, strange stories, works in progress, and the ideas I'm exploring across worlds real and imagined.

WANDER

Black and white photo of a cluttered desk with various objects, including a typewriter labeled 'Corona,' a pile of books, a lipstick, and some scattered items. In the background, there is a small trash bin and an album cover that reads 'COVONA.'

For the curious, the strange, and anyone wondering what might happen if they followed an impossible idea.

Come write poetry and prose, trouble old myths, build impossible worlds, wander through horror, imagine new futures, and give your imagination permission to misbehave.

Enter The Deck of N0NE

An Afrofuturist tarot deck for imagining what comes next.

The Deck of N0NE is a world of archetypes, questions, stories, and possibilities built from a Black Afrofuturist imagination.

Part tarot deck. Part storytelling device. Part portal.

The Deck is also home to The Living Archive, an evolving collection of stories and reflections created through encounters with the cards.

Bring Me to Your Community

Lectures. Readings. Workshops. Guest Artist Visits.

My work travels.

I join universities, museums, literary organizations, bookstores, and creative communities for conversations and experiences rooted in speculative literature, Afrofuturism, poetry, Black imagination, queer possibility, and the radical act of imagining otherwise.

Programs can include guest artist visits, public lectures, readings and conversations, writing workshops, and multi-class university visits.

Featured Lecture

Writing Ourselves Into the Future
Black Women, Speculative Literature & the Radical Imagination

An exploration of how Black women use speculative literature to imagine beyond the boundaries of the present—and what those imagined worlds make possible for Black queer communities.
